Today’s Video Gamers, Tomorrow’s Rock Stars

Guitar teachers and enthusiasts are seeing something big in their world in the near future – all thanks to one of the greatest video game franchises of all time – Guitar Hero. Though not everyone may have picked up that “guitar,” anyone remotely interested in video games has heard about it.

According to guitar teachers, the interest in Guitar Hero can very well be converted into a passion for the real thing. In fact, it is already happening. From kids to adults, who may right now be rock-illiterate, they are all getting hooked into the music and the musical instrument at the same time. In an extension of the passion they have acquired for Guitar Hero, they now want to learn how to handle the real thing and play for real.

Of course, we have some people denying that it is the game that propelled them to learn how to play the guitar, it is also undeniable that there is a relationship here.

On the other side of the coin, there those who actually think that Guitar Hero may deter people from actually picking up a real guitar. They believe that the video game may leave people satisfied with the simulation and not urge them to try out real guitars.

I tend to lean towards the former stand. Having learned to play the guitar at an early age and seeing how Guitar Hero works, I believe that children of all ages would have that seed planted in them. What do you think? We may just have some rock star in the bud because of one video game franchise. Cool.

All I Want For Christmas…

November 26, 2007 | Posted by sharker in General, News

…is a good game. This is the wish that countless children all over the United States – and beyond – are chanting in their heads. And why not? Gaming is all the craze wherever you go.

However, according to a poll conducted by Game Crazy, many children are expecting to be disappointed come Christmas morning. How so? Some 80 per cent of the respondents (kids aged 8 to 17) say that they will ask for video games for Christmas BUT 60 per cent expect to get games that they don’t want. This same number goes for those kids who say that they would get a game for the wrong gaming console or totally not getting a video game.

How sad, don’t you think? I find it quite hilarious, though. If children are asking for video games, why don’t they just go online, get all the relevant details of the game they want and have their parents buy it for them? That’s what I would do! This is the “Age of Information” for goodness’ sakes! A small thing such as miscommunication should not be the cause for “wrong” gifts – this is assuming that the parents do really want to buy their kids video games.

Anyhow, Game Crazy has come up with a guide for parents to help them get the right game. Helpful, yes. I still say that you kids out there just go ahead and find exactly what you want and point your parents in the right direction. What say you?

Happy First Birthday PS3!!!

ps3
Last week, Sony celebrated the first year of the release of its latest gaming console, the PlayStation 3. Everyone in the world of gaming cannot forget the amount of hype and build up that surrounded the release of this gaming console last year. In fact, it suffered a lot of setbacks before it was finally released. Even then, the sales of the PS3 could be compared to that of a turtle creeping up the street – it just didn’t make a big bang as many thought it would.

The main reason, according to experts, is the price that would set back gamers several hundreds of dollars. More so, by that time, the Xbox360 was well established in the market. According to Sony, however, the PS3 has been fighting hard to gain ground over the other gaming consoles in the market. With the slashes in pricing coming one after the other, the PS3 is well on its way to superseding the Xbox360.

In Japan, statistics show that the PS3 is outselling the Xbox360 by a ratio of 2 to 1. How is it faring in other parts of the world? The data isn’t clear, really. Some people say that the Xbox is still beating the PS3 when it comes to sales. On the other hand, some say that PS3 sales are catching up.

I say who cares? I have my PS3 and am perfectly content with it. What I need right now are more games to be released – and on time.

Such a scenario offers a realistic modern day life happening, with due reference towards the ongoing war in Iraq. Offered through game engines as the PC, PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360, people can make their own destiny and fight off the rebellion forces and make sure that they stay within their territorial bounds.

Ghost Recon offers high-end technological machinery to serve as the available weapons to fight off the rebellion forces. With the setting of the year in 2014, it will not be surprising why such new developed weapons are not possible once the real world reaches this date.
