Age of Empires III “Unlimited” Secrets

October 29, 2006 | Posted by sharker in Cheats, PC

Age of Empires III is a very challenging real time strategy game so it is not surprising if there are people who would prefer to take a little shortcut and try to exploit some loopholes in the game. Below are two secrets on how get unlimited resources and unlock points in the game:

Getting Unlimited Resources

Use a text editor like notepad to edit the proto.xml file that is located in the data directory of the game folder. There may be a chance that this file may be hidden from view so you must first uncheck the Read Only box in the file properties of Windows Explorer. Now, when you have opened the file search for the text CrateOf. The results will come up with:

CrateofFood, CrateofCoin, CrateofWood, CrateofFoodLarge, CrafteofCoinLarge, and CrateofWoodLarge.

For all of these entries look for the tag InitialResourceCount and then change the value to whatever it is you need. For instance, normal crates usually each have 100.000 of the resources. You can change this value to 999.000, if you are so inclined.

Unlimited Unlock Points in single player

Open SP_yourcityname_homecity.xml, which can be found in \My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame. Before you make any kind of changes make a backup of the file first. Now find the line .

The line being referred to should look like xx, x is represented by the number of skillpoints that you currently possess. You can change the value of xx to a higher number up to 999, save the file and start the game. When you go to a skirmish game, go to manage your city and you will find that you have 999 unlock points that you can use to unlock various things in the city.

A “horsy” tip for Oblivion

October 1, 2006 | Posted by sharker in Cheats, New Games, PC, Tips

The PC game that currently has my undivided attention the past few months is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Being the RPG geek that I am, Oblivion really delivers the goods in giving me the fix that I need.Of course one of the things that really gets annoying in RPGs is that you would eventually get so much loot that you can’t carry them! Well in Oblivion you can actually use your horse to solve the problem!

To do this you must first complete the Dark Brotherhood quests until you receive Shadowmare as your reward. It is special because it cannot be killed only made unconscious. Now knock Shadowmare unconscious. When he drops you are given the option to access his body through the spacebar. Open him and dump your extra gear into him. Shadowmare will regain “consciousness” in a few seconds. Now whenever you need to see your gear you just need to knock Shadowmare unconscious again. The great thing is that there seems to be no weight limit to what he can hold and all of the items remain forever.
