Gears of War Makes Waves

March 22, 2007 | Posted by sharker in Arcade Games, New Games, Reviews, Xbox, Xbox 360

Some game critics would call it another combat game where the star of the whole story plot would have to defeat all enemies present to get to the boss and advance to next levels but Gears of War offers something more in this Xbox offering. Packaged with upbeat soundtracks and high quality sound effects, it is truly some that will entice trigger happy gamers to check out.

Gears of War Xbox Game

Marcus Fenix, the star of the game is a former soldier who was been locked up for being accused of being a traitor in the opening storyline. He is freed from lockup to help a team called the Delta Squad to fend off the impending threat being carried out by the villains branded as Locusts. Their mission is to find the Alpha Squad but to be able to do so; they must effectively get past the spread Locusts through the various acts and levels of the game.

Finding out the weak points and being alert from the hiding villains in the game is the main ploy. With beefed up soldiers, it would take some time before Fenix and his troops would be killed. Unless of course they are sitting ducks and not careful of his surroundings, the game is a test of awareness, alertness and pinpoint accuracy to rule the threat that the Locusts have carried out.

Film Clips from Movie Game Counterparts

March 14, 2007 | Posted by sharker in News, Nintendo, PlayStation 2, Playstation 3, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360

Once a good movie that has caught so much attention is about to hit the theaters, people would do anything to find out what the possible storylines, twists and character roles in the movie would be. For hit movies, there would usually be corresponding games in the playstation 2 series such as Lord of the Rings, Cars, Matrix and so on where players are given missions and tasks to take on certain levels.

Return of the King

To spice up the game, short film clips of the movie are inserted where players can somehow depict each of the scenes shown and somehow be able to analyze and get an idea of what the whole storyline is all about. Tricky as it may seem but some people can even get the gist of the movie based on factual trailers. It is these trailers which have been placed strategically for interactive purposes and to easily understand the main objective of goals to achieve per level during game play.

Fans of Game Sequels

Most game enthusiasts would agree that games would usually follow the practice of movies in providing follow-up sequels such as Diablo, Warcraft and The SIMS. These games develop new installment packages for the fact that ones the original game has been completed, fans clamor for new twists and enhancements that would make the game more interesting.

World of Warcraft

Sequels are risks as well. Not all sequels are considered to be successful as expectations are taken to another level. It is entirely a new challenge and raising the bar towards the level set by people for the latest installment such as Warcraft 2 or 3, The SIMS 2 and Diablo 2, it cannot be avoided that they will be compared to the earlier version for review and comparison.

Such as been something to consider. While the area of graphics is something that is almost automatic, game play is also important. It should not be done in a way to which it covers only one side of a game developed, but the overall demands as solicited from avid gaming addicts the world has.

February 22, 2007 | Posted by sharker in Arcade Games, New Games, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360

Slam Dunks, trick passes and lots of shake and bake moves are what Xbox 360 owners have in store for this off the court basketball game. The street basketball segments of the hottest sport of NBA basketball today has been elevated to entirely new levels in this new rim rocking installment of basketball.

NBA Street Basketball Xbox 360

The game focuses entirely on showcasing the latest and creative new moves that are seen today in the hardwood by the different NBA stars. Combines with an eccentric play list of tunes, the era of basketball fever has been raised a notch to provide entertainment and electrifying moves that can only be seen and controlled through the Xbox 360 console.

If there is one thing that this game may lack, it is that of being too concentrated towards fancy moves and rim rocking dunks by players. While it offers a short career mode game mode, it is obvious that this game was created mainly for the dunking delights as avid fans love to see and imitate through game play.

Gamers Don’t Need to Upgrade Game Console Series

February 4, 2007 | Posted by sharker in General, Play Station, PlayStation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360

For the series of game consoles such as Xbox and the Playstation series, it does not necessarily follow that they would have to follow towards the newer versions such as Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 or 3. The games are still continuously developed and most of the time, the only difference is that of graphics and actual games released.

Xbox 360

It is only natural that the newer versions are higher capacity game gadgets that can offer a more attractive and alluring graphics display and features for the gamers to enjoy. However, as long as new games are being introduced for these subordinate game consoles, people can still be content with their present setup and save the enticing upgrade options for a later date.

Another thing for consideration is that newer game consoles do not come cheap. Especially for tight-budgeted groups who would rather put their focus on something important in life, foregoing their vice for a latter time is something worth while. Besides, prices for gadgets vary and it doesn’t really follow that newly offered games and gadgets should be immediately purchased.

STAR TREK: Legacy

December 2, 2006 | Posted by sharker in New Games, News, Xbox

There is good news for STAR TREK fans. In fact, I should go as far as to say there is GREAT news. At least for those who like playing video and PC games as well. Bethesda Softworks, the game developer for STAR TREK: Legacy, announced early this week that they will be using the voices of ALL the five actors who played the captains in the STAR TREK Series.

For those in the know, that would mean the voices of William Shatner (Captain Kirk), Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Avery Brooks (Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko), Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), and Scott Bakula (Captain Jonathan Archer). The actors themselves are excited about this undertaking. This is all the more significant as the STAR TREK Series celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. STAR TREK: Legacy is currently being developed for the XBOX 360 and the PC. It is planned to be launched this fall to coincide with the 40th anniversary celebration of STAR TREK.

For a STAR TREK fan, this adds a new dimension to the game play. If the graphics and action measure up to expectations, then the authentic voices of the captains would add a great deal to the whole experience. It would be just as if you were in the story itself!

Of course, merely having the real voices in the game wouldn’t be enough. The game itself should deliver. If reports are to be believed, fans won’t be disappointed. Playing as an Admiral, you can battle it out in space and test your skills. You can play online or via the single-player campaign mode.

As for me, I can’t wait for fall!
