The Product Life of Game Controllers

August 26, 2010 By sharker

Game controllers for most game consoles of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo have become another aspect of needing to satisfy the demand for possible damages or worn out game pads today. The wearing out process is only normal considering that with the rising addiction that most gamers employ on their time in playing, they tend to wear out the buttons and the joysticks from excessive use.

Game Controllers

It is a good thing that such game controller pads are available anywhere today. Depending on the wear and tear of such controllers, people end up trying to purchase a new one once their old ones start to loose their purpose, like delayed reactions of commands once pushed and also no response coming from moving the stick pad controllers.

While some may not be inclined to buy new ones and have their old controllers fixed, it will still come to a point where the controller would evidently have to be replaced, meaning beyond repair states. For some people, it would be best to replace now rather than wait until the time comes when controllers would become a rarity.

Playing like the Professionals

August 19, 2010 By sharker

Among the notable games that are coming out would be the off-shoot of popular sports and athletics such as the NBA, NFL and the NHL. These sporting events usually lead the headlines of the newspaper sports headlines and people are given the opportunity to be able to experience them through developed games in the various game consoles of the Playstation and Xbox series.

Each game comes with the usual updated player rosters, teams, statistics and signature moves that players are known for. Games like NBA Live and Madden Football also have the feature of a dynasty or story mode which allows controllers to be able to dictate and follow the development and evolution of their created or existing players throughout their career. Teams are also another good thing to build on since building dynasties is synonymous to planning and strategic management in a different approach and aspect from such developed games today.

Familiarization with the Controller Keys

July 26, 2010 By sharker

Game Pad Controllers

For game consoles, the need for a gamer to be familiar with the controller buttons which corresponds to a particular command in the chosen games such as Tekken and Mortal Kombat is a need to enjoy the game and interface much easier. Such controller buttons once combined properly will produce special moves and secret effects that make the gaming experience for games a whole lot worth it.

Truth of the matter is that most games, either fighting or role playing games offer more than just graphical presentation to impress the gamers. For older people the essence of game play and hidden secrets in games is something that they would initially want to crack. A good source to find out such hidden codes and combinations would be the Internet. A lot of sites like Gamespy offers such codes and walkthroughs for gamers to practice them once they get the chance to try it out for themselves in their PlayStation, Xbox and Wii game consoles.

Kids And Their Consoles

June 24, 2010 By sharker

Talk about people having nothing better to do! A group of researchers released a report regarding how game console branding affected the psychological responses of children. For boys, they compared the effects of Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation. For girls, they compared the effects of Barbie and Bratz dolls.

The results of their study showed that the Xbox affected the little boys more strongly in that they felt more empowered and self-confident. On the other hand, after viewing the Xbox system, the same boys also became more distrustful as compared to the boys who viewed the PlayStation. It was not disclosed if there was a difference between the Xbox, Xbox360, PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3.

The conclusion? Psychology plays a key role in branding and marketing. I was wondering, though. How would you translate these findings in the real world? Would boys who use the Xbox be really more confident in their daily activities? Would they also be really more distrustful of those around them? Another thing, I wonder what their findings would have been if they had the little girls play with the different consoles rather than the dolls? Last, I wonder how parents would react to these findings?

Oh by the way, these little boys and girls may not be little after all. The research group didn’t give any details as to their age group as well as to the number of subjects they carried out the study on.

This gives me an idea. Why don’t we try a little experiment on our own? Try playing with the Xbox and the PlayStation and see how they affect us?

Turok in Focus

February 19, 2008 By sharker

Turok
Gamers who are into sci-fi have been looking forward to the release of Turok – and why not? This game promises to present the best of both worlds. If you have not bought your copy yet, here is the dish – according to various sources all over the Web – to help you decide whether or not you should go ahead and shell out some dough for this game.

Turok has versions for both the Xbox360 and the PS3, so if you have either of these two gaming consoles, the option of purchasing Turok for your system is open. However, what I have been reading up on Turok does not seem to be so good. Ever reliable Gamespot gave it a rating of 7 over 10 – that does not bode good news at all.

They do highlight some good points such as battling with dinosaurs (fun, fun, fun!), a great voice cast, and getting to kill a T-rex with a knife (yeah, we all have had that fantasy). However, the bad points are a bit weighty:

• Set-piece battles go on for far too long
• Few checkpoint saves add to frustration
• Human opponents aren’t dinosaurs.

It seems that Gamespot is not the only one who is showing disappointment in the game. Take Tom Orry’s review in Videogamer, for example. He gave the game a sad 5 out of 10. He even called Turok an “aging franchise”!

I am sorry to say that Turok may not be the game that you want to buy next. Then again, you may want to find out for yourself – and why not, if you have the extra cash to spare?

Waiting for the Right Price to Buy Game Consoles

July 28, 2007 By sharker

It has been a common tradition that game consoles would come to a point of having to engage in price drops since immediate demands of purchase for them would not be selling as forecasted. Part of this can be attributed to their outrageous prices such as that of the Playstation 3 and the Wii series. The cost for owning one is simply too much and waiting for some time for prices to be lowered has been an expected trend as can be seen from previous game console installments such as the PS2 and the Xbox offers.

Time Zone Gaming

People are simply waiting in line before the price drops hit the markets. The initial purchasers will always be there, largely composed of game addicts who go for distinction and allow their excitement to get the better of them. While these people may afford to burn the extra cash, price discounts are offered after some time since not resorting to such may leave them with a heap of game consoles that will just gather dust and eat up their inventory space.

March 24, 2007 By sharker

The more advanced a gaming package the higher the need for better hardware specifications. Such has been the method adopted by PC games, PlayStation and Xbox today. The sequels to game consoles have been done for the purpose of providing better quality game play and graphics above all. It is quite obvious that the higher fine graphic turnout has become the darling of most game enthusiasts today. While it is true that preference for overall game play is important for hardcore gamers today, these are sometimes overshadowed by high resolution graphics that people get people glued to the fine graphic representations used in most games like role playing and sports games today.

Game Graphics

There have been a number of revisions on games today, a lot of where improvement in representation once the game console is in use can be significantly noticed. War games, sports and arcade games have been the sought after preferences in demands for gaming preference today.

Among the games notable for such innovations include that of Gears of War, Gran Turismo 4, NBA Live Series, and the Raw vs. Smackdown sequels. A lot of them are highly touted and rated based on actual gamers’ experience.

February 18, 2007 By sharker

It is a known fact that the gaming fever has obviously invaded the private lives of people today. The usual games like the NBA Live Series, car racing stuff and the usual role playing games are so addictive that people tend to become hooked on to their PlayStation sets and stay at home to play them vividly. But with the introduction of the PSP, another demand has been satisfied.

PSP Console

The PSP, a portable game console that can be brought anywhere a person pleases offers a totally new name towards compact and handy entertainment within their fingertips. PSP owners can have the luxury of using the various known DVD Games parallel to the PlayStation series everyone is aware of today.

Dont get the PSP concept wrong. Many would consider it as something only for the sake of adhering towards the kids demand for flexibility and mobility. But anyone would be surprised that even the adult and avid gamers would really be the leading purchasers of such new portable game consoles such as the PSP.
