Getting that Sweet Trailer Music

November 25, 2010 By dave

Have you noticed how much effort has been put by game developers in their products’ trailers lately? It seems that every trailer for a video game that’s come out recently has been nothing short of a masterpiece. And with great trailers usually comes great music – admit it, you’ve had at least a few occasions where you’ve watched the trailer for an upcoming release and just wanted to get your hands on that track!

However, in some cases that music’s made specifically for the trailer in question, so you really have no quick access to it. Lucky for you, there are ways around those limitations! First, you’ll have to get a program to download videos from the site the trailer is on – most of these websites share similar ideas in their design so that shouldn’t be too difficult. Run the program and point it to the link of the trailer – then let it download the video and extract, which may take some time in some cases, so be patient.

In the end you’ll be left with a video file – so then, you’ll just need a tool to convert videos to MP3 so that you can get the song out of that file and have it as an MP3 file for yourself! Sure, it may take a bit of cutting and editing to remove the unnecessary bits like the sounds from the trailer, and the results may not be perfect, but it’ll still be something, right?

The Karaoke Bug

November 6, 2006 By sharker

The karaoke bug has now bitten the gaming industry – and its fast becoming a favourite party game in Europe. Appealing to a wider range of gamers such as women and other casual players of varying ages, SingStar is considered a “Lifestyle” game which is fun, easy to play and understand. Soon to be released in North America this fall, StarSing has been hooking gamers in Europe for some time, and is now in its 6th edition across the Atlantic.
SingStar is a game where your singing ability is what matters. It comes with two good-quality microphones and a USB adaptor, and grades each player’s performance based on timing and pitch – the latter having high-tech pitch detection capabilities, which are incredibly accurate.
Another great thing about SingStar is that there’s one for everybody, and songs which suit everyone’s taste – there’s “SingStar Rocks” for the rockers, “SingStar Popworld” for the young ones, or “SingStar Anthems” for their young-at-heart parents. Add on some great peripherals and licensed original videos to accompany you, and everyone in the party is in for some fun.
As of now, SingStar is only possible for 2 players, but the developers are currently working on wireless Bluetooth microphones for the new PS3 versions.
